Thinkific Video Downloader

Saves the Thinkific lessons you're enrolled in as MP4, up to 1080p, in chapter and lesson folders with captions alongside, before a creator can pull them.

Students Get No Download Button

Thinkific doesn't let students save lessons, and the creator stays in control: lessons can be deleted, courses reshuffled, or the whole school moved off the platform, taking what you enrolled in with it. Thinkific Video Downloader gives you an offline copy that doesn't depend on any of those decisions.

Log into a Thinkific school where you're enrolled and open a lesson. The extension works out where the video lives, whether that's Wistia, Vimeo or Thinkific's own player, with nothing for you to configure, and adds a download button to the page. Choose a resolution and the lesson is written out as a clean MP4.

Archiving a Whole Course

Instead of saving lessons individually, you can put an entire course into the batch queue and let it download the lessons in sequence. The output is sorted into chapter and lesson folders laid out like the original curriculum, so the copy on your disk follows the same structure as the course online.

When a course includes subtitles or captions, they're kept too, as separate SRT or VTT files next to the video in the same lesson folder. A live progress tracker shows where every queued and active file stands, and if a run is interrupted it picks up again without redoing lessons that already finished. Everything is processed locally in your browser and nothing is uploaded to an outside server.

Enrolment matters: the extension only reaches videos from courses where you already have active access, and it doesn't get around enrolment requirements or other access restrictions.

Permissions Explained

  • downloads: saves lesson MP4s and subtitle tracks to your device and runs the batch queue.
  • activeTab: finds embedded players on the Thinkific lesson you have open and places the download controls there.
  • storage: keeps your download history, course progress tracking and preferences in your browser.
  • notifications: tells you when a batch of lessons is done or when a single lesson hits an error.

FAQ

What's the process for saving a Thinkific lesson?

Sign in to the school you're enrolled in, open a lesson that has a video and click the download button the extension places on the page. It finds the source on its own and saves an MP4.

My course uses Wistia or Vimeo. Is that a problem?

No. Many Thinkific courses host video on Wistia or Vimeo, and the extension recognises both kinds of embed without any setup on your part.

Could I queue up a full course in one go?

Yes. Batch mode takes every lesson, downloads them one after another, and files them in chapter and lesson folders that follow the course outline.

What happens to captions?

If the course supplies subtitle or caption files, they're saved next to the video as separate SRT or VTT files in that lesson's folder.

Does it work for courses I haven't joined?

No. It only reaches videos in courses where your enrolment is active, and it doesn't get around enrolment or access restrictions.

Will Thinkific Video Downloader run in Safari or a mobile browser?

Not at the moment. It works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave and Opera on Windows, macOS and Linux; Safari and mobile browsers aren't compatible.
