Squirtvideos Video Downloader
Finds the video playing on a SquirtVideos or companion 99re.com page and stores it as an MP4 in its own folder, with a notification when done.
Offline copies without third-party services
Every SquirtVideos view needs a live internet connection, and the usual way to keep a video for offline playback is an outside service that takes tedious setup and often gives poor results. Squirtvideos Video Downloader is built for SquirtVideos specifically and runs in your browser on its pages: it finds the media that is playing and saves it in a few clicks, so you can keep a personal library or a backup of content you are authorised to keep without relying on the stream staying available.
Sites and browsers
- Sites: SquirtVideos, plus pages on the companion host 99re.com
- Browsers: Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox
- Output: MP4, which replays in standard media players, moves easily between devices and archives cleanly
- Location: saved automatically into a designated Squirtvideos folder, within your browser's default download location
No separate application is required; everything works from inside the browser.
Toolkit
- Automatic media detection on supported video pages
- A straightforward popup for managing downloads
- A context menu entry for getting to the download quickly
- A desktop notification once a download completes
- Quality or format options to pick from when the page provides more than one
Saving your first video
Builds are published on GitHub Releases. Download the one for your browser, install it, and sign in through the popup with your email address and the one-time password you receive; if the popup ever shows an authentication error, it means that sign-in has not been completed with valid credentials.
Then open a SquirtVideos video page, click the toolbar icon, and get the video playing so its stream can be detected. Some pages hold their media back until you have interacted with the player, so a video that has been started at least once is the safest starting point. The popup lists the options it found. Choose a quality or format, press download, and the MP4 is saved to your computer once the transfer completes, with a desktop notification to tell you it is done.
Limits and practical points
- Some pages do not have media it can detect, depending on how they are built technically.
- Downloading happens online; with no connection the video cannot be fetched. A transfer that stops partway is usually down to the connection or a lack of free disk space, and it can always be restarted from the beginning.
- If the download button turns grey or stops responding, refresh the page, play the video again and make sure you are on the newest version of the extension.
- If the icon is missing from the toolbar, check on the browser's extension management page that the extension is enabled, then pin it to the toolbar yourself.
- Save only your own uploads or videos whose owner has explicitly agreed to them being saved.
FAQ
Does it matter whether I browse with Chrome or Firefox?
Either is fine. It is designed for Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox.
Does it ask me to sign in?
Yes. You sign in with your email address and verify it with a one-time password.
Are there SquirtVideos pages where nothing shows up?
It runs on supported video pages, but some pages may not expose media it can detect, depending on how they are put together technically.
What kind of file is saved?
An MP4, every time, so it plays in a wide range of media players and on most devices.
The popup lists nothing even though I'm on a video page. What now?
Start the video, or at least play it once, because some pages only reveal their media after you interact with them. Then reopen the popup.
