Siska Video Downloader
Download Siska videos on desktop Chrome, Edge, Brave or Firefox: the extension unwraps the site's iframe player and keeps an MP4 on your drive.
In brief
- Works on: Siska video detail pages, meaning addresses built on
video.phpthat carry a numeric video ID in the query string - Browsers: Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox, on desktop
- Saves as: MP4
- Runs: entirely in your browser, with no outside server handling the video
- Activation: sign in by email and type in the one-time code you receive
The iframe problem
Siska does not place its video directly on the page you open. Playback is delegated to an embedded iframe, and the address of the real stream only shows up once that inner frame has loaded. A browser's save option, or a downloader that scans every site the same way, inspects the outer page and so misses the video entirely.
Siska Video Downloader is shaped around that design. It reads Siska's page layout and URL routing, follows the playback chain into the iframe, and lists the video streams the player makes available once they appear.
Saving a video, start to finish
Installation comes first. Open the latest GitHub release, pick the build that matches your browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave or Firefox), install it, and complete the email sign-in so the extension is activated. After that, a save always begins with a Siska video page that has rendered completely, embedded player included. Press play, because media delivery only begins once the video is running and the iframe hand-over cannot resolve before then.
With the video playing, click the extension's toolbar icon to open the popup, or use the controls it places on the page. It takes a moment to trace the iframe and scan for media, after which the detected streams are listed. Choose the quality or format you want and start the download; when the MP4 export has finished, the file is written to your computer.
Capabilities
- Detection written for Siska's page addresses and routing patterns
- Discovery that tracks the iframe and follows it to the stream inside
- Identification and capture of the stream formats the player exposes
- MP4 files that play in standard media players, transfer easily between devices and are suited to a local archive
- A small popup for launching and managing downloads, alongside controls placed on the video page itself
- Local processing in the browser from start to end
Constraints
- Only one download can run at a time.
- It is built for desktop browsers; whether it works in mobile browsers has not been confirmed.
- Detection is tied to Siska video pages with the expected address; category and search result pages may leave the icon inactive.
- Sources only become visible after the player has loaded and the iframe has resolved. If the popup lists nothing, let the video play for several seconds and reopen it; if the download control does not react, reload the page and restart playback.
- An internet connection is required for every download. If a transfer stops partway, check that the connection is steady and try again, since a stream can also be briefly unavailable from the source.
- If Siska restructures its pages, an update may be needed before the extension works again.
- Save only videos that belong to you or that you have clear permission to keep.
FAQ
Which Siska URLs is it able to handle?
Video detail pages served from the video.php script, where a number in the address identifies the video.
Is an account required before I can download?
You sign in with your email address to activate the extension. A one-time password is emailed to you to verify the sign-in.
Could I start a second download while one is running?
No. Only one download is processed at a time, so start the next after the current one is done.
Can I use it on a phone or tablet browser?
It is designed for desktop browsers. Mobile browser support has not been confirmed.
Why is nothing detected on a page that is clearly showing a video?
The embedded player probably has not finished loading or has not started playing yet. Siska's iframe has to resolve before any source is visible, so press play, wait a few seconds and open the popup again.
