Shooshtime Video Downloader
Pull MP4 copies of Shooshtime videos from the watch page itself, with a player-side button, a popup list of sources and a progress panel.
What changes once it is installed
Shooshtime video pages gain a download control sitting next to the player, an entry called "Download Shooshtime Video" in the right-click menu (on the page and on the video alike) and a popup in your toolbar. Any of them opens the list of media the extension found on the page. Choose an entry and Shooshtime Video Downloader saves an MP4 into a dedicated Shooshtime download folder, while a small in-page manager shows live progress for each active transfer.
The gap it fills
On Shooshtime the real video address normally stays hidden until the player has initialised, so the browser's save option tends to come up empty. The usual alternative, pasting links into external downloader sites, is slower and gives another service a view of what you watch. Here, detection and saving both happen inside the tab you are already on, and the file goes through the browser's own download handling. It is meant for keeping a copy for your own offline viewing.
Detection in detail
After the player starts and its resources load, the extension combs the page in several ways:
- it reads
videotags - it follows metadata streams
- it checks the performance entries the browser has recorded
- it collects URLs referenced in scripts
- it decodes encoded media strings
Direct MP4 links and HLS (M3U8-style) candidates are both handled, provided the page or player exposes them. Each one runs through a shared offscreen processor and comes out as MP4, which replays in standard media players, moves easily between devices and is convenient to archive. When a quality hint is present in the metadata or URL, it is shown as a label. When a page exposes more than one stream, you can take the highest available. A side benefit: the list shows you whether a given Shooshtime player is serving direct MP4 or HLS.
Setting it up
Builds are distributed through GitHub releases: take the latest one for your browser, install it, and activate it by signing in with your email address and the one-time password sent there. URL matching covers shooshtime.com and its subdomains. When a newer build is published on GitHub, the extension lets you know.
Limits
- Results depend on the page. Some Shooshtime pages rely on alternative player setups, or scramble their media addresses in a way this version of the adapter cannot read. If a particular page never works, pass its address to the developers so they can look into it.
- A delivery pattern the extension does not support produces an empty candidate list even after playback.
- HLS transfers can stop early or leave a damaged file if segments time out; retry on a stable connection.
- Every download needs an internet connection.
- Save only videos you own or have been clearly authorised to keep.
FAQ
Once I'm on a Shooshtime watch page, what do I click?
Open a supported video page and let the player initialise. Then use the control beside the player or the popup, pick one of the detected media options and start the download.
Should playback be running before I scan?
Yes. Media is detected after the Shooshtime player has initialised, so starting the video helps make sure every available option is found.
Are Shooshtime saves always MP4, or can the container vary?
MP4, every time. What it can read as input depends on what the Shooshtime player exposes on that page.
Does it handle every video on Shooshtime?
It runs on supported Shooshtime video pages, and results vary with how each page delivers its video. Whatever page you use it on, only save content you are authorised to keep.
I don't see a button by the player, or the candidate list is empty. What should I do?
Reload and wait until the player is fully initialised, then start the video and reopen the popup or the right-click menu. Pages that expose their media only after the stream begins need that playback step.
Is an email address needed to get going?
Yes. Activation is an email sign-in: you enter your address and then the one-time password delivered to that inbox.
