A video that changes domains

Reddit Tube has an unusual way of serving video. A clip you open on a Reddit Tube page will often redirect to ReddVideo, which is where playback is really delivered. On top of that, the player is embedded in an iframe, and the true stream endpoint only appears after playback has been handed through that frame. Standard browser save options and general downloaders tend to stop at the first page and come back with nothing.

Reddittube Video Downloader handles both domains without you having to think about it. Whether Reddit Tube or ReddVideo ends up serving the file, it detects the playable media, follows the iframe player to its source and offers the direct MP4 or HLS streams it finds there. Its detection is fitted to the site's actual page structure and URL routing rather than to websites in general.

The extension is an independent product from SERP Apps. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Reddit, Reddit Tube or ReddVideo.

• activation through secure email sign-in with a one-time password

How a download goes

1. Install the extension using the build for your browser from the latest GitHub release.
2. Open a Reddit Tube video page and follow it through to ReddVideo if the site redirects you.
3. Wait until the page, including the embedded iframe player area, has rendered completely.
4. Start playback, which triggers the media delivery the extension needs to see.
5. Click the extension's toolbar icon to open the popup.
6. Let it trace the iframe and scan for available media.
7. Choose a quality or format from the streams it lists.
8. Start the download and the MP4 is saved on your device.

Downloads happen one video at a time. Once the current download is finished, you can begin the next.

Coverage and limits

The large majority of videos on Reddit Tube and ReddVideo pages can be saved. A minority are delivered in stream formats the extension can't handle, and those stay out of reach.

Detection only runs on supported video pages whose address has the expected structure. Category listings, search results and similar browsing pages may leave the toolbar icon looking inactive, so open the individual video first.

On a video page, nothing is visible until the iframe has resolved and playback is under way.

Browsing in incognito or a private window may require you to allow the extension there first, through your browser's extension settings. A change to Reddit Tube's page structure could mean the extension needs an update to keep working, and downloads always need an internet connection.

Reddit Tube is a video host with iframe-based playback. Use the extension only for videos that belong to you or that you've been clearly allowed to download.

FAQ

Will every Reddit Tube video download?

Most videos on Reddit Tube and ReddVideo pages work, but some use stream formats the extension cannot process, and those cannot be saved.

Is this connected to Reddit or to Reddit Tube?

No. SERP Apps builds it on its own, and none of Reddit, Reddit Tube or ReddVideo is affiliated with it, endorses it or is otherwise connected to it.

Can I download a batch of Reddit Tube videos at the same moment?

No. Downloads run sequentially, one video at a time; start the next once the current one completes.

Can I use it in a private browsing window?

Possibly, but you may first have to allow the extension in incognito or private mode through your browser's extension settings.

Why does the Reddit Tube popup show no streams?

The embedded player probably hasn't finished starting. Let the video play for several seconds, then open the popup again; reload and replay if needed.

On a Reddit Tube search or category page the toolbar button looks dead. Expected?

It only switches on for supported video pages with the expected address. Category and search pages might not activate it.

A Reddit Tube download stopped before finishing. Why?

Usually an unstable connection, though the source can be briefly unavailable. Check your network and try again.
