Porneec Video Downloader
Captures the HLS or MP4 stream that Porneec's iframe player exposes after you press play and exports it to your device as an MP4.
The trouble with saving from Porneec
Porneec plays its videos in an embedded iframe rather than on the page itself. The page is basically a frame around a nested player, so a right-click save or the usual download shortcuts can't get at the media file. Its video addresses are unusual too: they read like the slug of an article or blog post rather than a typical video path.
Porneec Video Downloader is made for this one site, not stretched across every site and half-working on each. It recognises Porneec's headline-style video addresses and follows the iframe player while it initialises. As soon as the stream can be reached, it is captured and listed in the popup, so there's no hunting for hidden media links.
Capture, convert, keep
- Sources: M3U8 playlists streamed over HLS, and direct MP4 files, both coming from the embedded player.
- Result: a standard MP4 that plays on any modern device, so you can move it to your phone, archive it on an external drive or open it in any media player.
- Choice: the popup lists the detected streams with their quality options, each with its own download button.
- Saving: done by the browser's built-in download engine, to local storage on your device.
Everything happens in the browser. There are no external tools, no third-party workarounds and no copying links between programs, and the extension only becomes active on Porneec pages it recognises.
Getting a video down
Download the build for your browser from GitHub Releases, which is where the extension is distributed, and install it the way your browser normally adds extensions. Open a Porneec video page and wait for it to load fully. Then press play; until the player starts, it hasn't exposed any stream to detect. Click the extension's toolbar icon and it will scan the page. When the scan ends, choose a quality from the list and press download to export the MP4.
Scope and limits
- It can only save streams the player actually exposes, so it isn't guaranteed to work on every Porneec page.
- Homepages, category views and search pages aren't supported, and the icon stays inactive there.
- Videos with an unusual player setup, DRM or other restrictions may not be detected.
- Pulling the stream data needs an internet connection.
- If Porneec changes its player, the extension may need an update before it catches streams again.
Save only videos you are authorised to keep. Signing in to the extension is done with a one-time code emailed to you.
FAQ
Why does the extension go after the iframe and not the page?
On Porneec the real stream only shows up inside the iframe player after playback starts. The extension has to wait for that start-up step before it can spot and capture the media source.
Which formats matter for a Porneec download?
The player serves M3U8 and MP4 streams, and the extension picks up both. Every export is saved as a standard MP4 so it works on as many devices as possible.
Porneec video addresses look like news headlines. Is that a problem?
No. Porneec builds its video URLs from slugs that resemble article or blog titles instead of the usual video paths, and the extension is designed to recognise that format.
Where do I download the extension from?
Builds are published on the project's GitHub Releases page; grab the newest one for your browser from there.
The popup is empty, the MP4 won't open, or nothing happens on download. What should I do?
For an empty popup, start the video and confirm you're on a Porneec video page. For a file that won't play, reload and download it again; if it keeps failing, the stream may have expired or been damaged at the source. If the download button does nothing, check whether your browser makes extensions ask before saving files, and that your disk has room.
