Pornapi Video Downloader
Pulls the HLS stream or MP4 behind a Pornapi /watch/ page once it plays and saves the video to your computer as an MP4 file.
Why a right-click gets you nothing
On Pornapi, the /watch/<slug> page you land on is mostly a wrapper. The actual media sits inside a nested iframe player and only shows up after that player loads, so saving the page or right-clicking the video leaves you without a usable file.
Pornapi Video Downloader works from inside the page instead. It follows the player while it starts up, collects the stream addresses on its own, and has them listed by the time you click its toolbar icon. There's no need to dig through the network tab yourself.
Inputs and output
- Captured: M3U8 playlists delivered over HLS by the embedded player, plus direct MP4 files when the player hands those out
- Saved as: MP4, whichever input it started from, so the result opens on practically any device or player without extra software
- Quality: you pick from the variants the player offers for that video
Saving a video
- Add the extension to your browser from its GitHub release build.
- Open a Pornapi video whose address follows
/watch/<slug>, wait for it to load, and press play. Detection only kicks in once playback is running. - Click the toolbar icon. The popup scans the page and lists each stream it caught, with a download button beside each.
- Choose a quality and click download. The browser's built-in download manager writes the MP4 to your device.
The extension stays idle everywhere else and only wakes up on recognised Pornapi watch pages. Detection, conversion and saving all run in the browser, with no outside program and no copying of links between tools.
What the popup shows
The interface is kept small on purpose. Opening it on a watch page starts a scan for downloadable media; when the scan finishes you get a short list of the streams found, each labelled with its quality and paired with its own download button. Nothing needs configuring first, and because the file is handed to your browser's normal download engine, it shows up alongside your other downloads.
Limits worth knowing
- Category listings, search results and other non-video pages aren't supported; the icon looks inactive there.
- A video served through a different player setup, or locked with DRM, may show nothing to save.
- The connection has to stay up for the whole download. A dropped stream can leave a broken or empty file.
- Changes Pornapi makes to its site or player can interfere with detection.
- Browser security settings or a full disk can stop a download from starting.
Signing in and fair use
To sign in to the extension you enter your email address and then a one-time code sent to it, so there's no password to set up or remember. Keep its use to videos you own or have been given clear permission to download.
FAQ
Generic downloaders fail on Porn API pages. What does this one do differently?
It is built around Pornapi's /watch/<slug> layout and the way its iframe player behaves, so it already knows where the stream will surface instead of guessing.
Which Pornapi addresses make the extension start looking for video?
Any page whose path follows /watch/<slug>. Opening one of those turns on detection; other page types are ignored.
Is it limited to HLS streams?
HLS is the main case: it captures the M3U8 playlists the embedded player loads. Direct MP4 files are handled too, and every download is written out as MP4.
The popup is empty even though I'm on a video. What should I check?
Confirm the address uses the /watch/<slug> pattern and that the video is actually playing, then reopen the popup. If one particular video still shows nothing, it may use another player setup or DRM, so test a different video to see whether the extension is working.
My saved file is broken or never started downloading. Now what?
A broken or empty file usually means the stream cut out partway; reload the page, play the video again and retry. If clicking download does nothing, make sure your browser lets extensions save files and that you have free storage.
