Peekvids Video Downloader

Pulls the hidden MP4 or M3U8 stream out of Peekvids' iframe player while the video plays, then saves it to your computer as an MP4.

A player inside a page

On Peekvids, the watch page you load is mostly a wrapper. The real player sits in an embedded iframe, and the media address only appears inside that nested layer after playback begins. That is why right-clicking the picture, choosing "save video as", or pointing a basic grabber at the outer page gives you nothing to save.

Peekvids Video Downloader sidesteps the wrapper. While the player starts up, the extension watches it from inside the page, records the stream addresses it reveals, and lines them up in the toolbar popup. By the time you click the icon, the options are already listed, so there is no hunting through the browser's network tab and no pasting links into a separate program. The whole process stays inside the browser.

Which addresses it responds to

Only Peekvids video pages built on the /v/<slug>/<id> route wake the extension up. Everything else on the site is ignored:

  • the front page
  • category listings
  • search results

Staying idle outside those video pages keeps its footprint small. If the toolbar icon never becomes active, the page in front of you is one of the ignored types, and opening a single video fixes it.

What it captures and what you get

Depending on the video, the iframe player hands over either a direct MP4 file or an M3U8 playlist, the HLS format that streams a video in chunks. The extension recognises both. The saved result is always an MP4.

Resolution choices come from Peekvids itself. Each quality variant the player exposes during playback becomes a row in the popup with its own download button; when the player offers only one, that single row is all you will see.

Files are written by the browser's own download engine, so they land in your default downloads folder unless your browser is set to ask where to put them. From there they behave like any other MP4: rename, move or copy them as you please.

Getting a video saved

  1. From the project's GitHub releases, take the build made for your browser and add it through the browser's normal extension install steps.
  2. Open a Peekvids video whose address matches /v/<slug>/<id>.
  3. Wait for the page to finish loading and press play. Detection depends on the player having initialised.
  4. Click the toolbar icon. Opening the popup starts a scan of the page, and once that finishes you get a list of every stream it was able to find.
  5. Pick the quality you want and start the download.

Using the extension requires signing in with your email address. There is no password to keep track of: each sign-in is confirmed with a one-time password.

Limits worth knowing

The extension can only save streams that the player actually exposes, so success on every page is not guaranteed. Peekvids does not use an identical player setup for all of its videos, and those with an unusual configuration or extra protection may never show up in the popup.

Stay online until the file is complete, because the download needs internet access throughout. If a finished file refuses to play, reload the page and start the download over; repeated failures usually mean the stream itself had expired or arrived damaged. When nothing happens after you click download, your browser may be set to make extensions ask before saving files, or the disk may be full.

Peekvids can change its player or page layout, and that can stop detection until the extension catches up. Updated builds are published on GitHub Releases.

Only save videos that you own or that you have clear permission to keep. Peekvids Video Downloader comes from SERP Apps, which works independently and has no official relationship with Peekvids.

FAQ

Will the extension react on a Peekvids search or category page?

No. It activates only on individual video pages whose address follows /v/<slug>/<id>. The homepage, category indexes and search results are ignored.

Is SERP Apps connected to Peekvids in any way?

No. The extension is built and maintained independently by SERP Apps, with no official relationship to Peekvids.

Could I get a higher resolution than the popup is showing me?

Not through this tool. It lists every quality variant the Peekvids player exposes while the video plays, and those are the only versions it can reach.

Once a video is saved, where do I find it and what can I do with it?

It goes to your browser's default download location. After that it is an ordinary MP4 on your disk, so you can rename it, move it into another folder or copy it to another device.

Peekvids changed its player and saving stopped working. What now?

The extension is kept up to date with platform changes. Check the project's GitHub Releases page for a newer version and install it.

Why is the popup list empty on a video page?

Most often the video hasn't started yet. Press play, give the player a moment, then open the popup again. Also confirm the address is a /v/<slug>/<id> video page.
