Creators Leave, Posts Disappear

Backing someone on Patreon for a long time doesn't mean their posts will be there tomorrow. Accounts get deleted overnight, older work gets shifted to a higher tier, and back catalogs are sometimes cleared without any notice. Patreon itself offers no way to grab everything you've had access to in one go.

Patreon Downloader is a browser extension that makes local copies while you still can. Point it at one post, or hand it a creator's entire timeline, and it pulls down the images, videos, audio, PDFs and other attachments, then files them under the creator's name and the post date.

Behind the Scenes

The extension rides on the Patreon session you're already logged in to, which is how it reaches posts from the tiers you belong to. When you queue a timeline, it walks through Patreon's pagination by itself until it reaches the oldest posts. Each file keeps its original name and resolution, along with the post's metadata, and lands in a structure split by creator, post date and media type.

A typical run looks like this:

  • Log in to Patreon in the browser as you normally would; the extension reads your feed through that authenticated session.
  • Visit a creator's page and either tick individual posts or queue the whole timeline as a batch.
  • Let it collect every image, video, audio file, PDF and attachment at original quality.
  • Open the result on your disk, organized by creator and date. Credentials are never saved anywhere.

Compatibility

It installs on desktop Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera and Brave. Supported systems are Windows 10/11, macOS 11+, and Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Debian and Fedora. Region: Worldwide.

What it saves: ZIP archives, PDFs and other document attachments, music and other audio, video files, and images in full resolution, either post by post or as a batch covering a creator's whole timeline.

What stays out of reach: community and discussion posts, live streams on Patreon, anything shown only in the Patreon mobile app, and posts from tiers you haven't joined.

Things It Won't Do

  • Recover a post or an account the creator has already removed.
  • Bypass paywalls or tier restrictions, or run at all without an active Patreon subscription; it only sees what your current tier unlocks.
  • Record live streams.
  • Move fast through a very large archive, because paging back to older posts can take a long time.
  • Survive every change to Patreon's API or page layout unaffected; some may need an extension update before things work again.

Permissions

  • activeTab: spots Patreon creator pages in the tab you're on and adds download controls to posts in your feed.
  • downloads: writes the images, videos, audio and attachments to your local downloads folder.
  • storage: remembers queue progress, creator preferences and session state on your device from one browsing session to the next.
  • scripting: reads post text, media addresses and attachment links from Patreon pages so the queue can be built.
  • tabs: keeps queued downloads matched to the right content while you move between creator pages and posts.
  • host_permissions: lets the extension reach patreon.com plus the CDN endpoints behind it, so media and post data can be fetched through your logged-in session.

FAQ

Can I save posts from a creator I don't back?

No. Everything goes through your active Patreon session, so you only get what your current tier opens up. Paywalls aren't circumvented and higher tiers stay out of reach.

Will it fetch a creator's full archive of posts?

Yes. Patreon's pagination is handled automatically, so every post on a creator's page can be queued. You can also aim at specific date ranges or single posts.

Which kinds of files can it keep?

Pretty much anything attached to a post: pictures (high-resolution versions included), videos, audio, PDFs, ZIP archives and whatever other files the creator uploads.

How will my downloads be laid out?

Each creator gets a folder, and inside it posts are separated by date. Media and attachments from one post stay together, with the post title as the reference.

Are my Patreon login details at risk?

No. The extension relies on the session cookies already in your browser, never stores or sends your credentials, and does all downloading locally on your device.
