ManyVids Video Downloader

Keeps local MP4 copies of the ManyVids videos you've bought, so your library survives a deleted creator page or a lost account.

Keeping What You Bought

A ManyVids purchase lives on the platform, not on your computer. Should the creator remove their page or leave for another site, or should you lose access to your account, the video can go with it. ManyVids Video Downloader writes the videos you've purchased to your own disk as MP4 files, so your library doesn't hinge on any of that.

Saving takes a few clicks. Start a video on its ManyVids page and a download button appears on the player; choose a resolution and the file begins saving. You don't need extra software, you don't paste links into outside websites, and there's no long procedure to follow.

Behind the Download Button

The extension looks for the video in several places: player configuration (flashvars), HTML5 video elements, references inside page scripts, iframes that hold the player, and network requests it intercepts while the page plays. It then works out whether the page is handing over a direct MP4 or an HLS stream.

  • A direct MP4 is written to disk right away.
  • An HLS stream is stitched together and converted to MP4 by a background pipeline that runs inside the browser.

Every quality tier it discovers goes into a resolution picker, highest first, and when both kinds of source exist the MP4 is preferred. Whatever the source, you end up with a uniform MP4. All of this happens locally, and no file or data is uploaded.

Starting a Save and Following It

Saves can be started from the button placed inside the ManyVids player, from the toolbar popup (which also shows quality options and download controls), or from a "Download ManyVids Video" item in the right-click menu. Once a download is under way, the manager displays live progress, transfer speed, a cancel control and a completion state, and desktop notifications tell you when a file finishes or fails, so you can work in other tabs meanwhile.

Completed files are filed automatically into Downloads/ManyVids, a subfolder of your browser's default Downloads directory, with naming that prevents one file from overwriting another.

To set it up, install the extension, verify your email with a one-time password (OTP) to activate it, and stay logged in to ManyVids as you normally would. Then open a video, press play so its streams are exposed, and pick your quality.

Compatibility

Desktop builds cover Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave, Opera, Whale and Yandex on Windows, macOS and Linux, and the extension is available worldwide. Safari and mobile browsers are excluded.

What It Won't Do

It only handles purchased videos that your logged-in ManyVids session can already open. It won't bypass DRM, permissions or site restrictions, and DRM-protected videos can't be saved at all. Live streams aren't captured; it's built for recorded video pages. There's also no way to pull a creator's whole catalog or the entire site in bulk. The resolutions on offer are limited to what the creator uploaded and what ManyVids makes available.

Permissions

  • downloads: stores finished MP4 files on your device and keeps the manager's progress accurate.
  • storage: saves activation details and your preferred quality locally.
  • activeTab: finds the ManyVids player on the current tab and adds download controls to it.
  • tabs: keeps a transfer's state intact when you switch tabs during a download.
  • scripting: reads player metadata and stream addresses to build the list of qualities.
  • notifications: reports finished and failed downloads while you're working in another tab.

FAQ

I've bought a ManyVids video. How do I get it onto my computer?

Start the video on its ManyVids.com page. Any of the player button, the popup's download action or the right-click entry will then offer quality choices, and the pick you make is saved as MP4.

Which ManyVids quality tiers end up in the picker?

Every variant found on the page appears, sorted from the top resolution down. Where a page offers both a direct MP4 and HLS, the MP4 is preferred, and HLS can still be converted for you.

Will I end up with MP4 files every time?

Yes. A direct MP4 is written straight away; an HLS stream is stitched together and converted inside the browser before it's saved.

Where on disk does ManyVids content get stored?

In a ManyVids subfolder of your browser's default Downloads directory, created automatically to keep the archive orderly.

Can I record ManyVids live shows with it?

No. It's focused on video pages and recorded playback on ManyVids, not on capturing live streams.

Does it get around DRM, paywalls or other access limits?

No. It only works with content your current session can already open, and it leaves DRM, permissions and site restrictions in place.

My ManyVids video isn't being detected. What should I check?

Playback usually needs to be running before the stream is exposed, so start the video and try the button or popup again. Still nothing? Reload, give the player time to load completely, then retry.

Can I run it in Whale, Yandex or Opera?

Yes. Whale, Yandex and Opera are covered, along with Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Brave, on Windows, macOS or Linux desktops. Safari and mobile browsers aren't.

What is each of the requested permissions doing?

Together, download, active-tab, scripting, tabs, context-menu and offscreen access let the extension locate sources, place its button on the player, turn HLS into MP4, keep the manager current and write files locally.

Are my files or login details sent anywhere?

No. All detection, extraction and conversion stays inside your browser, nothing is uploaded to outside servers, and signing in by OTP means your site passwords never need to be stored.

Is this legal?

We give you full control over download speeds because we believe users should decide how they use their software.

That said, here are a few widely accepted best practices for safe, responsible downloading:

  • Only download content you created, own, or have explicit permission from the rights holder to access.

  • Protect your personal data by respecting platform rules and rate limits with reasonable download speeds to avoid automated abuse systems putting your account at risk.

  • Protect your privacy by using a reputable VPN for IP protection before initiating downloads — this is the VPN we recommend & use.
