Where It Picks Up Recordings

Loom Video Downloader recognizes a recording automatically on any of these:

• a Loom share page or individual share link
• a workspace or team library
• a Loom player embedded on some other website
• a recording locked behind a share password, which it asks you to unlock in the popup

The password you type is used for that session only and is never saved.

Quality, Queues and Captions

A resolution picker shows each quality tier Loom has for the recording before you start, topping out at the highest resolution Loom provides, so the original quality can be kept. Saved files carry the recording's original name.

To save several recordings, add them to the queue. They download in turn in the background with a live progress bar for each, and the pace stays inside Loom's rate limits while you carry on with other work.

When a caption or subtitle track is available, it can be embedded straight into the MP4. Loom's automatically generated captions are a different matter: those aren't exported, because the tool focuses on producing a clean MP4. Grab the transcript from Loom itself if you need it.

What Happens in the Browser

Many Loom videos are delivered as HLS or DASH segments. The extension stitches these into one MP4 using offscreen processing, which keeps the browser responsive while it works. Detection and conversion happen on your machine through your existing Loom session, and no video is sent to an outside server. Activation checks are the only remote connection, and the extension keeps neither your passwords nor your viewing history.

• Resolution can't exceed what the video was recorded at and what Loom offers.
• Recordings you can't view, and anything permanently deleted, are out of reach; deleted videos can't be recovered.
• DRM-protected enterprise content isn't supported, and some organizations' DRM settings can block a recording from being saved.
