LinkedIn Downloader

Keep LinkedIn videos, carousels, document posts and images on your own computer before the feed buries them or the author edits them away.

Why Saving LinkedIn Content Is Hard

LinkedIn has no export button for posts, carousels or videos. A useful framework or keynote clip sits in your feed for maybe 3 days, then the algorithm pushes it out of sight, its author rewrites it, or it gets removed. A bookmark only points back to the post, so when the post changes or disappears, so does your reference.

LinkedIn Downloader puts a save option on top of the posts you can already see. Open a post that's public or visible to you through a connection, click the toolbar icon, and the media is written to your computer. You can keep it for meetings, research or presentations and open it later with no internet connection.

Content It Handles

Post typeWhat you get
Native videoAn MP4 file at the highest resolution LinkedIn offers
Carousel or document postA separate file for every slide or page
Image postThe picture at its original upload resolution
Any postMetadata: author, date, post text and engagement counts

Before a download begins, the popup shows an estimated size for each item, which helps if storage is tight. Typical uses include collecting competitors' posts as a swipe file, keeping a portfolio backup of what you've published yourself, and holding on to conference presentations or keynote recordings.

How It Reads a Post

When you open a post, the extension looks at LinkedIn's player data and the post's metadata in the page you already have loaded. From that it works out which media can be saved and lists it with format details. Files are fetched through your current signed-in LinkedIn session. No credentials are kept, no third-party API is called, and none of your data goes to an outside server. It also adds very little to the LinkedIn interface.

Getting started takes a few steps:

  1. Install it in your browser and activate it with your email address and a one-time password.
  2. Stay logged into LinkedIn the way you normally would.
  3. Browse to the post, article, video or carousel you want, and the downloadable media is picked out for you.
  4. Click the icon, review each item's format and size, and pick what to save. Files go to your local downloads folder.

Where It Runs

You can install it in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave or Opera on a Windows, macOS or Linux computer. Supported region: Worldwide. There's no Safari version and no support for mobile browsers.

Outside Its Reach

  • Download LinkedIn Learning course videos
  • Save private InMail or other messages
  • Record a LinkedIn Live broadcast while it's in progress; a replay can only be saved after the broadcast ends
  • Reach posts your account isn't able to view
  • Pull a whole profile at once; posts are processed individually

You must be signed into LinkedIn in the same browser. Only public posts and posts from your connections are reachable, and video quality can't exceed what LinkedIn serves to the browser.

Browser Permissions Requested

  • downloads: stores video, image, carousel and document files on your device.
  • activeTab: lets it look at post data in the current tab to find media.
  • storage: holds your download history and settings in the browser's local storage.
  • scripting: extracts media addresses and post metadata from the data on LinkedIn's page.
  • host_permissions: covers only linkedin.com and its CDN domains, for finding media and fetching the files.

FAQ

I found a LinkedIn video I want to keep. What do I click?

With the post open, click the LinkedIn Downloader icon in the toolbar, choose a quality, and the MP4 is written to your downloads folder.

Do slide carousels and document posts come through too?

They do. Multi-slide documents and image carousels are detected, and every slide becomes a separate file.

What about posts that only my connections can see?

If your logged-in session can display the post, it can be saved. Posts your account can't view are out of reach.

Will the person who posted find out?

No. Everything is read locally from the page in your browser; LinkedIn's API isn't involved and no notice goes to the author.

Is my browser on the LinkedIn Downloader support list?

Supported: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave and Opera, on Windows, macOS or Linux. Not supported: Safari and mobile browsers.

Could I grab a whole profile's worth of posts at once?

No. Posts are handled individually, which keeps requests at a sensible pace and avoids tripping LinkedIn's automated abuse detection.
