Once I find an AlphaPorno video I like, how do I keep it?

Play the video on its AlphaPorno.com page. Then either press the download button on the player or open the popup from your toolbar, choose a quality, and an MP4 is saved into your AlphaPorno folder.

Why is the popup blank until the video plays?

The stream has to be running before the extension can see what's available. If nothing appears, press play, give it a moment to buffer, and open the extension again.

Which resolutions might be offered?

Whatever renditions the source has. Many AlphaPorno videos come in 360p, 480p and 720p, with 1080p on some; each video's list is different.

What file format do I end up with?

Standard MP4 every time. Direct MP4 sources are saved unchanged, and HLS streams are converted to MP4 automatically in the browser.

Which folder holds the finished files?

An AlphaPorno subfolder in your browser's default Downloads directory, created and used automatically.

Is queueing several videos together possible?

No. It handles a single video at a time so the stream is captured reliably and the output is clean. Begin the next download when the current one is done.

What do activeTab, contextMenus and declarativeNetRequest have to do with downloading?

Together with the other permissions, they let the extension read the AlphaPorno page, spot active streams, handle the network requests media capture depends on, add its button, run the download and notify you when it's finished. Each has a specific job.

Does it support the browser I use?

Supported: desktop Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave and Opera, on Windows, macOS or Linux. Not supported at the moment: Safari and any mobile browser.

The video isn't showing up. How do I fix that?

Start playback and allow a few seconds for the stream to come up. Still nothing? Refresh the page and have another go. Note that DRM-protected videos are never detectable.

How private is the process?

Video processing is entirely local to your browser. Authentication uses a one-time email code, and video data is never sent to outside servers.
