• poster images
• <video> elements and the <source> entries inside them

Both direct video URLs and HLS-style playlists are picked up when the page exposes them, and the popup lists what was found so you can choose.

Saving an Al4a Video

First install the build for your browser from the GitHub Releases page, then sign in with your email address and confirm it using the one-time password.

Go to the video you want on AL4A (its detail page address finishes with .html) and let it load completely. If no media options show up, start the video: some media is only revealed once the player is running. Use the download button beside the player or open the popup, go through the detected options, pick a quality and press download. From there the offscreen pipeline processes the file and saves it.

Pipeline and Output

Saves run through an AL4A-specific offscreen download pipeline, which supports HLS concat for stream-based videos. The result is an MP4, sorted into a configurable download folder organised under AL4A.

Limits

Every download needs an internet connection. A missing button usually means the page isn't one of the supported .html detail pages or hasn't finished loading yet. If a download fails or the file comes out broken, check your connection and try again; repeated failures can mean AL4A is delivering that media in a format the extension can't handle. A permissions error points to the AL4A domain permissions not having been granted when the extension was installed. Restrict it to clips you own outright or have been explicitly allowed to download.
